About
Serena Bonaretti, PhD
Hi! My name is Serena. Thanks for your interest in learning coding with me!
Here is a bit about myself and why I created C as in Coding
I am a PASSIONATE TEACHER, dedicated to sharing my knowledge with my students and seeing them thriving. Next to being a teacher, I am a research scientist, specialized in medical image analysis. You can see more about my research here.
During several years in academia (see my CV), I have noticed that many people have difficulties with coding, they think it is too hard for them, or they feel frustrated when they try. Very often, this is just due to a lack of structured knowledge, or maybe some initial negative experiences.
I created C as in Coding because I strongly believe that anybody can code. By mastering the language syntax, understanding the basic programming concepts, and getting used to think in a computational way, anybody can easily start writing code and gain awareness of the technological world around us.
During in-classe and private lessons, I love to create a friendly and fun learning environment so that students can really enjoy learning. I put a lot of effort into creating effective learning material that contains real-life examples, structures knowledge, and provides robust foundations on which to build solid competences. To do so, I extensively use Jupyter notebook, an easy-to-learn web-based development environment that integrates narrative and code in a flawless manner.
